Mexico made history tonight at the Oscars 2019 thanks to the film "Roma" by Alfonso Cuarón, which won several Academy Awards at the gala held in Los Angeles.
The first statuette for Cuarón was for Best Cinematography, thus opening the very fruitful night.
One of the highlights was with the award ceremony for the Best Foreign Film. The winner was "Roma" ahead of "Capernaum" (Lebanon), "Cold War" (Poland), "Never Look Away" (Germany) and "Shoplifters" (Japan).
After a few hours without being successful in various categories, Alfonso Cuarón won the Oscar for Best Director and received the award from Guillermo del Toro, the also Mexican who won it last year for "La Forma del Agua."
It should be noted that from 2013 to 2019, there are five Oscar Awards won by Mexicans for Best Director with two for Cuarón, one for Del Toro and the other two for Alejandro González Iñárritu.
